Traditionally, stationery has been seen as a mere tool, valued solely for its usefulness. However, the designers behind "Table Dancers" believe that stationery can be more than just a practical object. They view stationery as working partners that have their own life and personality. By focusing on people's emotional needs, they have crafted a collection that combines functionality with artistic expression.
The "Table Dancers" collection features a pair of compasses, a paper knife, an eraser, and a tape measure - each inspired by the elegance and movement of dancers wearing red shoes. The compasses mimic the graceful twirls of a ballet dancer, while the paper knife glides across the paper like a skater on ice. The eraser, with its three layers representing skin, flesh, and bone marrow, adds a touch of whimsy and surprise to the act of erasing. Finally, the tape measure extends from the shoe barrel, resembling an elegant and slender leg.
These stationery items are not only visually appealing but also highly functional. Made from non-toxic and lightweight plastic (pp), they are suitable for drawing, measuring, and model-making. The compasses stand at a height of 140mm, the paper knife at 150mm, the eraser has dimensions of 15mm*15mm*45mm for the erasable part and 45mm*20mm*35mm for the non-erasable part, and the tape measure measures 60mm*28mm*41mm.
Interacting with "Table Dancers" adds a touch of joy and inspiration to the user's work. The compasses create intricate circles on the paper, reminiscent of a ballerina's graceful movements. The paper knife glides effortlessly, leaving behind a trail of creativity. The eraser surprises users with its multi-layered design, encouraging them to embrace the unexpected. And the tape measure, with its elongated form, serves as a reminder to appreciate the beauty in every step of the creative process.
The "Table Dancers" project was initiated in Tianjin in September 2019 and completed in October 2019. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges in refining the shape and size of the stationery items. However, through meticulous adjustments and user feedback, they were able to achieve the perfect balance between form and function.
This innovative design has been recognized for its creativity and ingenuity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Art and Stationery Supplies Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that embody resourcefulness, technical skill, and contribute to enhancing the quality of life.
